PRIVATE SESSIONS

I offer private sessions that combine all my professional skills in social work, yoga, mindfulness, and meditation to help you be your most radiant self. Termed Aspiration Wisdom Awareness Rest Embodiment Sessions or AWARE Sessions,  these sessions cater to students who are interested in going deeper into their practice and themselves, such as deepening their practice in yoga, meditation, and mindfulness; addressing specific physical ailments; and/or for mental or emotional help in sorting through existential questions sparked by life transitions, anxiety, confusion, depression, anger, belonging, grief, or loss.

The benefits of working one-on-one are many, including the ability to focus on specific areas of struggle, conflict, personal or spiritual crossroads, or interpersonal relationship areas that are in need of attention, balance, compassion, and self-compassion. In embodying wholeness a person’s identity within the larger social context is recognized and honored— class, gender, race, culture, diversity in abilities, sexual orientation, ancestral stories, immigration are some of the social locations, that I also hold space for in my own experience and for students and community.

In these sessions, I integrate an array of experience and skills from my fields of practice and training, including clinical social work, positive psychology, yoga philosophy, Reiki, mindfulness, the science of self-compassion, and compassion practices.

I wholeheartedly look forward to serving you to the best of my ability.

SESSION OVERVIEW

Introductory Session (Free)

Three-Session-Minimum Commitment

Should you decide to move forward, I require a minimum commitment of three (03) sessions. This model is based on what I have seen work best with students in the past in terms of creating impactful, sustained help.

Follow Up Sessions

After your initial three sessions, more can be arranged beyond on a need-basis.

PRACTICES USED

Yoga

Yoga is an ancient practice from the Indian subcontinent, and is lauded for integrative wellness.

The word yoga means “union” and is meant to symbolize the union of body, mind, and soul through the use of breath.

In yoga, we will primarily focus on asana or “posture” (which will help stretch, and relax the body) and pranayama or “controlled breathing” (which will help still the mind). Use of mantra or “sound” is offered as an essential part of this yoga practice.

Mentoring & Exploration

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I have over 20 years of experience in mentoring and issue exploration in private practice, clinic, and hospital settings. I have been trained in and regularly use a variety of techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Grief Therapy, Positive Psychology, and more.

My goal is to give you the space to express yourself, feel heard, and provide the best of everything I know to support you, which might involve a combination of physical, mental, and emotional support.

Mindfulness & Meditation

The overall goal of meditation and mindfulness is to steady attention and experience life moment-to-moment.

Interestingly, both mindfulness and meditation fall within the mandates of yoga. The goal of asana (or the physical posturing we do) is to quiet the body, and; pranayama (or the breathing exercises) to quiet the mind. Thenceforth, the practitioner withdraws deeper into oneself using first mindfulness and then meditation principles.

My meditation practice primarily derives from the Vipassana Buddhist School and Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s Transcendental Meditation.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese alternative healing technique where a “master” or practitioner channels healing energy into the system of the person in need of help.

Reiki involves non-invasive touch. The client usually lies down in a comfortable space and the practitioner will lightly hover above the client’s body, slowly moving, sweeping, and channeling energy starting at the crown of the head down to the bottom of the feet.

Reiki brings harmony, vitality, and balance to the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual levels of our being.
